Social Networking Sites connects between gambling fans
The social networking websites for the past 2 years have grown in full scale, to the point that each site has millions of users. So what makes us really spend an half or even up to 2 hours from our time to join, use, chat, and manage our personal profile (which we could have multiples that we use)? and how it really changes the way it can connect us between other gambling fans?
We all know them, they are now a part of our daily life, and no, I don't talk about our daily chores and personal affair, we talk about online social networking sites: Facebook, MySpace, Hyve, Flixster, Friendster, Habbo, Hi5, Orkut and many other alike. Those sites are filled with millions of users, each for it's own porpoise and agenda, and we take a part in it.
Things became to change once Facebook and Myspace first appear, each with its own specification and the functionality that they gives towards their users. One of the big new add-ons are the applications (or widgets) that one can add to his personal or public profile. Applications are a little code that have been written by people all over the world. Applications like: sharing pictures, listening to music, rating information, adding lists, sharing videos, playing poker, buying or selling items and many more cool ideas that are useful (and some may not) to the members.
One more noticeably idea that the social networking sites have had embraced is the power to communicate within groups. If you are a fan of band, personality, group, item or just about any kind of many things that you like and want to meet people that share the same passions as like do, than groups are the place to look around and join in order to meet these people.
So what can online gamblers gain from online social networking web sites? Well, for starters, cool applications have been written for those who want to play (free or money) online gambling games and stay tuned with real time results and charts about other players. Applications like Texas' Hold'em, blackjack or other different type of casino card games that you can find in any online casinos. Another feature is that an Application can charge for real money. Depending on the application you are using, some of them requires you to put deposits or withdraw money just like a real casino. I would you to pay attention to the privacy level over those sites, just just be careful.
As for groups, you can find really great groups about gambling games or other information you need about the industry. Finding players from all over the world over the net that are using the same group and than join them is a great idea, since you can ask questions about specific games and how to play them, getting help on different type of situations in a game, or just read what other players have written. You might as well watch videos (ie, WOSP events, personal records, or winning hands) just for the fun of it, or just to watch pictures from different kind of situations that people have had.
The social networks are also a good place to share your personal thoughts about the online gambling industry, post comments or send your personal overview to other friends that you got in your social network. Building a strong friend list can help your voice be heard to much greater "distance" than a simple mail list can do. Everybody in your list will be able to see what are you doing and when would it be, whenever it is an event you are planning to attend to, or trying to raise your voice on an important subject.
The social networking is a great way to make stuff visible to all, and share it to the masses. Keep it in a good sport and enjoy the options that different sites provides you. Make friends and exapand your social circle.
