Party Poker Founder Anurag Dikshit pleads guilty
20 December 2008 22:47:30 PM
The Department of Justice has fined Mr. Anurag Dikshit, founder of the well know online poker gambling site “Party Poker” with a staggering amount of $300 Million for violating the WireAct (UIGEA) law and a 2 year prison time.
The DOJ will not skip a chance to find anyone who violates the WireAct (UIGEA) law in the US. For this reason, the founder of the well known (And played) online poker service “Party Poker” has plead guilty at NY federal court testifying that his company has used an illegal account who has been transferring money to/from the US.
The judge, after hearing Dikshit’s testimony: “I have operated under strict law, known into full account that it is my own responsibility when I’ll be filled with charges against me”, has told to Dikshit that he has been found guilty and for his crime he will have to pay a fine of $250,000 court expenses and a two year prison time.
The future of Party Poker is unknown, rumors says that it will likely to be sold to another operator (Could be a US operator – hoping the day that online gambling will be legalized) the other PP co-founders will likely not going to set their foot in the U.S just because of that reason, Dikshit probably has business in the US, and therefore he has no choice buy get into the US and face the consensuses of his own faults.
